Essential qualifications/requirements

A minimum four-year technical degree or Master s, completed within the past 24 months in:

Job Opening: Quality Assurance Engineer, Baker Hughes, UAE



About This Job:
Quality Assurance (QA) aims to ensure that the product and service an organization provides is fit for its purpose and meets customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
  • Facilitation of process improvements, qualitative risk assessments and root cause analysis and corrective actions, aligned to continuous improvement, in your area of responsibility.
  • Use of quality tools to monitor and improve processes.
  • Fully support the QMS by creating, editing and reviewing documents, assuring alignment to industry and Baker Hughes standards.
  • Act as QMS Lead Auditor.
  • Conduct Internal, Supplier audits and demonstrate use of supplier improvement actions as required.
  • Ensure through QC processes at all stages are carried out as per the contract or Job order and other specified requirements.
  • Work with Quality Control departments to monitor calibration, control and testing systems as required.
  • Participate in tender and contract reviews and the development of quality plans to support contracts. Share knowledge within the quality community and to the wider Baker Hughes organization.
  • Demonstrate project management best practices and use of quality management tools and handle special projects as required.
  • Assures that manufactured units meet quality control procedures, engineering specifications and customer requirements.
  • Failure investigation support for Reliability Engineering.
  • In-house Training Support for QA & QC employees.
  • Conducting all your business activities in accordance with Baker Hughes Health, Safety and Environmental policies, Legal Compliance requirements and Company Core Values.
  • Responsible for implementation / maintenance of QMS certifications i.e. ISO 9001:2008 / API Spec Q2.
Essential Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Graduate Engineer Degree Holder with Specialization in Petroleum, Mechanical or Electrical.
  • Minimum Experience of 5 years and more in the QA/QC field.
  • Completed QMS Lead Auditor Course certified to IRCA.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English. In depth knowledge of industry standards i.e. ISO, API, DNV, ASME.
Preferred Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • API Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work and communicate well with others.
  • Understanding of business processes, industry standards and BHI technologies. Skills in quality control and calibration, business process modelling, SAP.  
  • Lean six sigma and root cause analysis knowledge.
  • Familiar with MS Office.

Objective
To lead projects works, manage contractors work and implement project controls to ensure a smooth and structured completion of new developments and changes in facilities.


Qualification & Experience

  • BE (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial or Chemical engineering) from any HEC recognized university, with 5 to 8 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong technical background, installation and commissioning with demonstrated experience in working with contractors
  • Should have knowledge of all relevant engineering & construction codes and standards, design specifications, philosophies and statutory requirements for safety & environment
  • Should be familiar with design engineering, construction, installation and commissioning activities.
  • Familiar with project management processes, tolls and areas of management.
  • Development of project plans, projects management tools & techniques and controls
  • Familiarly with commercial terms and conditions and basics of contract law
  • Strong management and leadership skills
  • Should be good at planning and monitoring
  • Proficiency in MS Office (preferable MS-project)
  • Strong communication & report writing skills
  • Strong technical background in oil and gas processing , Refinery or Fertilizer Industry

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead and manage project activities and engineering change requests.
  • Develop and implement project execution plans and strategies. Monitor actual project progress against agreed schedules and plans and publish project status data at key stages throughout the projects.
  • Provide updates or adjustments to the project plan as necessary to ensure the project continues to meet its key deliverables.
  • Develop project work breakdown structure and manage day-to-day project tasks. Provide support for execution & management of activities related to mechanical works.
  • Follow the projects through procurement, fabrication, construction & commissioning and liaise technical support during these activities leading to project start-up and turnover to operations.
  • Lead acceptance/performance testing and manage hand-over of completed project to field operations.
  • Assist in implementation of project control & safety procedures to manage quality, risks, changes, issues and financial implications.
  • Assist development of projects & contracts scope of work / supply, tender documents, selection of vendors & contractors, training programs for projects, project completion, close out, and lessons learned reports.
  • Liaise with other functions & groups for execution of project activities
  • Implement Risk Management and Stakeholder Management
  • Coordinate with contractors and provide support for managing contractor’s work. Negotiate contracts within his level of authority.
  • Support project managers / leaders in integration of activities and coordination.
  • Approve, within the level of their authority, deviations from standards.
  • Capability to integrate multidisciplinary functions; asset, finance, drilling, exploration, petroleum engineering, production engineering, procurement, contracts etc.

 Q) How did you join ETS, what was the process?
I joined CNLC (China National Logging Corporation), a Chinese oilfield services company, in 2008 after my graduation. I worked there as well-testing engineer for 2.5 years and then in 2011 I got an offer from ETS to work with them. The position was offered to me based on the relevant experience and core competence in the required discipline.

Q) In your opinion, which key qualities did you have which enabled you to join ETS?
In my opinion it was smart work and focused approach towards the quality service providing, which is the core of oilfield services business.

Q) What have been some of the key achievements of your professional life & student life so far?        

  •  Secured FIRST position all over Asia Pacific in Humanitarian Shelter Design Contest (HSSDC), 2008 held by ASME.
  • Secured FIRST Position among all Engineering universities of Pakistan in NATIONAL ROBOT COMPETITION, 2007 organized by Toyota Indus Motors Company.
  • Received DR. A. Q. KHAN EXCELLENCE AWARD in year 2009 for extra ordinary achievements in engineering.
  • Received Outstanding Student Leader Award from ASME Pakistan in 2008.
  • Held office of Secretary General, ASME Pakistan during 2009-2012.
  • Presented and published a research paper on Oilfiled Service Quality Improvement in 19th ISPE International Conference on Concurrent Engineering – CE2012, Trier (Germany )




Q) Did you work at some other company before ETS? If so, then which was it? What about internships?
Yes, I worked with CNLC for 2.5 years after graduation.
I did two internships during university period. The first one was with Nestle Pakistan in 2006 and the second one was with Dawood Hercules Chemicals in 2007. DH Chemicals graded my performance as Excellent and nominated me as the Best Internee of the Year. Besides that I did my FYP with DH Chemicals.

Q) What are the best parts & not to good parts that you have experienced in your job?
Well, I believe there are several good parts and a few not-good parts in my job. This job is challenging in all of its aspects, it teaches me a number of things, growth is good, salary compensations are good and last but not the least it involves travelling all around the beautiful places within the country and outside.

Q) What advice can you give to others who want to join ETS?
I would say your personality should be a portfolio of knowledge, sharpness and hard work. To build such portfolios, you have excellent platforms including the institutes/universities you are studying in along with the student societies like ASME, IEEE, Debating clubs etc. Do utilize these platforms and they will benefit you throughout your careers.

Q) How did you join OMV, what was the process?
Trainee Engineer Positions was advertised with eligibility criteria of 3+ GPA. Test was conducted and shortlisted candidates were interviewed. I was not shortlisted in the 1st interview cycle. However I got the interview call later.

Q) In your opinion, which key qualities did you have which enabled you to join OMV?
Team player, initiative and supportive.

Q) What have been some of the key achievements of your professional life & student life so far?           
 My current position speaks volumes of what I have accomplished so far. I have always followed the path which supported me in bringing my dreams into reality for goal without plan is just a wish!

Q) Did you work at some other company before OMV? If so, then which was it? What about internships?
Yes I  have worked as internee in Descon and Nespak.

Q) What are the best parts & not to good parts that you have experienced in your job?
There are equal opportunity drives, “Being treated as a girl, is good and bad both. Good because you get the opportunity to be the first drop of rain in and playing your part in bringing about gender diversity and equal opportunities. Had I been a boy, opportunities would not just have walked up to me.
Cons: no matter what, middle management would still treat you as a female or some fragile specie. So sometime we have to go beyond what we are supposed to do, just to prove what we are capable of.

Q) What advice can you give to others who want to join OMV?
OMV believes in “MOVE and MORE” so we get the chance to see changes in team often. Those who want to join in, well they must
1. Keep their eyes open for any kind of upcoming position. 
2. If they get selected, they should not rethink. 
There is ample space to grow. It’s a good place to develop your professional personality because of effective interaction at all levels. The open door policy aids in development of skills.
